30-year-old Rodion Kaplun from the village of Taranivka, Zmiivska community, knows well the price of fighting for Ukraine. Back in 2016, he stood up for the defense of the state, serving in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. After the end of his contract, he planned to connect his life with service in the State Emergency Service, but the full-scale invasion changed everything.

Without hesitation, Rodion volunteered to return to the army. During his years of service, he went through the hottest areas of the front. He participated in the liberation of the Kharkiv region, fought in Liptsy, Tsyrkuny, Ruska Lozova. Later, there were Bakhmut, Donetsk, Zaporizhia directions. His comrades know him by the call sign "Fisher".

On May 17, 2026, Rodion was seriously wounded in the Volchansky direction. As a result of an enemy strike, he suffered serious lung damage and lost his right arm. Since then, a difficult struggle for recovery has been ongoing. He has already undergone several operations in Kharkiv and Kyiv, and is currently undergoing treatment in Lviv, where he is awaiting another surgical intervention.

Despite what he has experienced, Rodion does not lose his courage. As the defender's mother, Natalia, said, he remains cheerful, strong, and even dreams of returning to the army after rehabilitation.

His closest family is waiting for him at home - his beloved wife and two young children. His daughter is five, and his son is only one and a half years old.

Today, Rodion needs the help of each of us. A collection has been opened for the defender to buy a modern prosthesis that will help him return to a full life, be close to his family, raise children, and look to the future with confidence.
