The Zmiiv community is in mourning again. Our fellow countryman, Senior Lieutenant Roman Bazavluk, died while performing a combat mission.

Once again, bitter news envelops the Zmiiv community with black pain.
On July 1, 2026, while performing a combat mission to defend Ukraine in the area of โโthe settlement of Zinkivske, Zolochiv territorial community, Bogodukhiv district, the commander of the 4th platoon of strike unmanned aviation complexes of military unit A5173, Senior Lieutenant Roman Bazavluk, was killed.
Roman was born on December 2, 1982 in the city of Zmiiv. He studied at Zmiiv comprehensive school No. 2. After graduating from it, he entered the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", where he received his higher education. Then he began his working life.
In 2010, he started a family. Together with his wife, he raised two daughters, was a loving husband and a caring father. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he did not hesitate to defend Ukraine. At first, he served in the security company of the Chuguyiv District Territorial Center for Recruiting and Social Support. Since 2023, he has been defending the state as part of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar". For courage, professionalism, and dedication to the military cause, he was awarded the decorations of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Cross of the Brave" and "Golden Cross", the decoration of the commander of the operational-tactical group "Luhansk", as well as the decoration of the command of the 93rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade "Kholodny Yar" of the 3rd degree.
In March 2026, Roman, already in the officer rank of senior lieutenant, was appointed deputy company commander of military unit A5173.
He always cared about his brothers, maintained close contact with volunteers, and made every effort to provide his unit with everything necessary to carry out combat missions.
Roman Bazavluk will forever remain in the memory of his family, friends, brothers and all who knew him as a courageous, honest, responsible and devoted person to Ukraine.
The Zmiiv City Council and the entire community express their sincere condolences to the Hero's wife, daughters, relatives, friends, and brothers. We share your indescribable pain and bow our heads in deep sorrow.

On July 13, a farewell ceremony was held in Zmiiv for the Defender of Ukraine, Senior Lieutenant Roman Bazavluk, who gave his life for the freedom, independence, and future of our state.
Roman Bazavluk was born on December 2, 1982 in the city of Zmiiv. He studied at Zmiiv Secondary School No. 2, after which he entered the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute". After receiving higher education, he began his working life.

From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, he defended the Motherland. Initially, he served in the security company of the Chuguyiv district territorial center of recruitment and social support. Since 2023, he has been performing combat missions as part of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade "Kholodny Yar".
For his courage, professionalism, and dedication, he was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's Cross of the Brave and the Golden Cross, the Commander-in-Chief of the Luhansk Operational-Tactical Group's award, and the 3rd degree command award of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar".

He always took care of his comrades, maintained contact with volunteers, and did everything possible to ensure that his unit was provided with everything necessary to perform combat missions.
On July 1, 2026, while performing a combat mission to defend Ukraine in the area of โโthe settlement of Zinkivske, Zolochiv territorial community, Bogodukhov district, Roman Bazavluk, commander of the 4th platoon of strike unmanned aerial systems, died, remaining faithful to the military oath and the Ukrainian people to the end.
Family, friends, brothers, representatives of local authorities, community residents, and everyone who knew Roman came to see the Hero off on his final journey.
The bright memory of Roman Bazavluk will forever live in the hearts of his family, brothers, friends, and all residents of the Zmiiv community.
