🕯️ The Zmiiv City Council announces with indescribable pain the death of the Defender of Ukraine - senior soldier Serhiy Sevastyanov.
Sergey Sevastyanov was born on March 26, 1986 in the city of Zmiiv. He studied at Zmiiv Lyceum No. 1. After graduating from school, he worked, and his last place of peaceful work was the Bezlyudiv Meat Processing Plant.
On June 5, the soldier was taken to the Main Medical Clinical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv. Doctors fought for his life to the last, but the injuries he received turned out to be incompatible with life. On June 9, 2026, the Hero's heart stopped.
The cruel war takes away the best sons and daughters of Ukraine every day - courageous, indomitable, devoted people who stood up to defend their native land. Serhiy was exactly that - a true patriot, a reliable comrade, a kind and sincere person.
In the memory of his family, friends, brothers and all who knew him, Serhiy will forever remain a bright, kind and sensitive person, always ready to help. He loved life, valued his family and was a true support for his loved ones.
We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased Defender.

THE ZMIIV COMMUNITY SAID FAREWELL TO ITS PROTECTOR – SERGII SEVASTIANOV
Today, the Zmiiv community, in deep sorrow, accompanied Serhiy Sevastyanov to his final journey - a courageous warrior, patriot and faithful son of Ukraine, whose life was cut short by enemy shelling in the Sumy region. A hero forever for 40 years.
.Sergey Sevastyanov was born on March 26, 1986 in the city of Zmiiv. He studied at Zmiiv Lyceum No. 1. After graduating from school, he went to work. His last place of peaceful work was the Bezlyudiv meat processing plant.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, Serhiy voluntarily joined the defense of Ukraine. He fought in various directions, participated in the performance of complex combat missions, and was repeatedly awarded military awards.
On June 4, 2026, while performing a combat mission, a senior soldier, a machine gunner of the 3rd detachment of the 3rd machine gun platoon of the air cover company of military unit 3051, was seriously injured as a result of a strike by an enemy Lancet UAV near the settlement of Stinka, Sumy region.
On June 5, the soldier was taken to the Main Medical Clinical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv. Doctors fought for his life to the last, but on June 9, 2026, the Hero's heart stopped. During the farewell ceremony, the First Deputy Mayor of Zmiiv, Tetyana Timofeeva, addressed those present:
What has been destroyed can be rebuilt, lost property can be restored. But human life cannot be brought back. Therefore, it is our duty to remember, honor, and live with dignity, carrying through the years a bright memory of those who are no longer with us.
She also thanked Serhiy's classmates, noting that he would now become their Guardian Angel, and wished the soldiers a victorious return home. Serhiy's class teacher, Yana Panova, shared warm and at the same time painful memories of her student. She remembered him as an extremely decent and courageous young man who was always the first to come to the rescue:
"He was already a real man at school. When war came to our home, he did not stand aside. He made a difficult but courageous choice. Instead of being by our side, starting a family, getting married, having children, he chose a different path. He stood up for our country, you and me, and gave the most valuable thing that every person has – he gave his life."
The Hero was buried in Vysochynivka next to his mother.
We express our sincere condolences to Serhiy's father, his family, loved ones, friends and brothers. His feat is forever inscribed in the history of our community and all of Ukraine.
