LIGHTS OF MEMORY THAT WILL NOT BE QUIET: THE FALLEN DEFENDERS OF UKRAINE WERE HONORED IN ZMIEV
On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, the "Light a Light" campaign was held in Zmiyev.
This evening, the city was united by memory.
People from different corners of the central Zmiyev Square moved towards the flagpole. Each one held a small lamp in their hands. They converged from different directions, like streams, to eventually unite in one place and in a common memory.
Walking together were the families of the fallen Heroes and missing Defenders, war veterans, active military personnel, the leadership of the Zmiiv City Council headed by Mayor Pavlo Golodnikov, and city residents.
During the procession, the names of our compatriots who died defending Ukraine were heard. Their portraits appeared on the screen one after another. Familiar faces. Native names. People who lived next to us, made plans, loved, dreamed — and stood up for the defense of their country. At the foot of the national flag, lights lit up one after another. Dozens of small lights formed a large fire of our common memory.
Let these lights remind us: we remember every name. We remember every face. We remember who is behind the blue and yellow flag flying over our city.
Bright and eternal memory to the Defenders of Ukraine.
You are forever with us. In our hearts. In the memory of the community. In the history of Ukraine.
Video from the "Light a Light" campaign will be in our upcoming publications.
